Feasibility study, Detailed Engineering Design and Preparation of Tender Documents for Upgrading Kijenge – Usariver Road [10.1 km] to Bitumen Standard
The project involved upgrading the road from engineered gravel road to bitumen standard by providing 6.5 m carriageway, 1.5 m shoulder on either side of the pavement and 0.54 m pedestrian walkway, design of 10.2 km of road, geometrical design, pavement design capable of carrying 3-10 Million Equivalent Standard axles, traffic analysis, hydraulic/hydrology analysis, design of three new bridges having span of 10-40 m, preparation of tender documents. The pavement layers provided are 150 mm of lower improved subgrade, 150 mm upper improved subgrade, 200 mm of cement stabilized subbase C1 and crushed base CRR.
The project has three major bridges and/or drainage structures which were also designed by AESL
Kijenge Bridge at Impala roundabout – single span bridge with 18 m length
Nduruma Bridge – 36 m bridge double span with span arrangement of 2 x 18 m
Manyire box culvert – double cell box culvert with length of 11 m
